A 1968 set recorded in Memphis and Nashville. Features only one Tex original, "I'll Never Do Wrong." The rest are remakes of period hits: "Ode to Billie Joe" and "Skip a Rope" are inspired selections, "Funny How Time Slips Away" one of his greats, "Dark End of the Street" inevitable, Roger Miller's "Engine Engine Number Nine" and the budding standard "Green Green Grass of Home" worth trying. But Joe Tex singing "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" and "Honey"? Dated barely begins to describe it.
