Bunny Sigler - Ive Always Wanted to Sing 1979
For (I've Always Wanted to Sing) Not Just Write Songs, his follow-up LP to his hit Let Me Party With You album, Bunny Sigler had a bigger production budget to work with. There are strings and (orchestrated) horns laced throughout the release. Yet it was the more sparser tracks that got the most attention. The first single, the funky, disco-ish "By the Way You Dance (I Know It Was You)," cracked the R&B Top 40. The double entendre-filled "I'm Funkin' You Tonight (With My Music)" made the album a favorite among funk fans and club goers. Sigler's late-night supper club leanings come through on the echo-drenched ballads "Cry My Eyes Out" and "Half a Man." Repeating guitar lines are used effectively on the bouncy "Simple Things You Do," and Sigler's late dad can be heard singing on the drivin' "Glad to Be Your Lover," for a funny, touching effect.
