Joe Simon was just a step away from being a star when he issued his third album in 1969. His voice was becoming deeper, his style and delivery more confident, and he was getting stronger material. The country/soul blend came together on this album, and he was now mixing sassy uptempo tunes with smoky ballads and starting to break beyond Dixie.
