Pleasing You 1997

Tyrone Davis finally cuts an album full of pre-programmed synthesizer dance music with this, his second album for the Malaco label. While the tracks have that stiffness that seems miles removed from a record played by actual humans, Davis, for his part, seems quite at home on the ten selections collected here. But on "U Should Be My Girl" and "Keep It Comin'," Davis comes up with something from his producers that actually comes close to a delivery and sound reminiscent of his old Dakar sides. On "Let Me Please You" and "Delicious," Davis' ballad style is well to the fore and his interpretation of Solomon Burke's "Gotta Get You Off My Mind" is one of the album's smooth sounding highlights.
