Devotion is the sixth studio album by American band, L.T.D., released in 1979 through A&M Records. The album peaked at No. 5 on the R&B albums chart. It also reached No. 29 on the Billboard 200. The album features the singles "Dance 'N' Sing 'N'", which peaked at No. 15 on the Hot Soul Singles chart, and "Stranger", which charted at No. 14 on the same chart.
Uptempo rump shakers outnumber L.T.D.'s crushing ballads on this adequate but unessential release; the killer tracks can be found on various greatest hits compilations. The fast jams are bass-heavy, flyweight funk pieces. "One on One" is upbeat and gritty, while "Stand Up L.T.D." is a rousing, opening-type signature song that competes with the infectious "Dance 'N' Sing 'N'" for the LP's best groove. The few ballads are supreme, creamy concoctions done majestically by Osborne: "Share" and "Stranger" couldn't have been executed better.
One of LTD's biggest from the 70s – a sweet mix of mellow soul and boogie, handled to perfection by the talents of Bobby Martin! Jeffrey Osborne's vocals are really running strong at this point – well-suited to both funk and ballads, with none of the cliches that started creeping into his solo work in later years. Titles include "Stranger", "Share My Love", "Say That You'll Be Mine", "One On One", and "Dance N Sing N".
