The Dramatics – New Dimension 1982

With L.J. Reynolds missing from the lineup, the Dramatics lack the electricity that Reynolds' vocals brought to each record. Abandoning their soulfulness for a more trimmed-down pop sound, the Detroit-based quintet did manage to slip into the Billboard R&B Top 50 with the lackluster uptempo cut "Live It Up." Aside from the song's pre-hook, there's nothing dramatic about this number. The most impressive single on the album is "Treat Me Right," and it stumbled after only eight weeks on the charts, peaking at #62. However, the song is much more appealing than what the chart action reflects.
