A precusor of the direction they'd later take at Buddah when glossy pop
ballads supplanted the raucous soul shouting that was characteristic of
their early Motown work. Aside from the minor pop hit "Make Me the Woman
You Want to Come Home To," there is a stunning interpetation of
Kris Kristofferson's
"Help Me Make It Through the Night" that stands out as definitive. But
aside from that, there wasn't anything else that was up to that
standard.
