The final album on Columbia for Gladys Knight & The Pips did
reasonably well, getting them three chart hits, but it didn't include
any of the anthemic R&B or pop crossover songs they had been landing
in the '80s. It was a well-produced effort, and
Knight sang with her usual vigor, spirit, and intensity, but nothing seemed to click on the level that Knight And The Pips expected.
