Golden Duets 1968

Released in 1968 by the Date label, this album features two hits from the previous year. A version of "Love Is Strange," straightforward and not as playful as Mickey & Sylvia's original, was Peaches & Herb's first charting single; it reached number 16 on Billboard's R&B chart and fared even better on the publication's Hot 100, where it peaked at number 13. The reminiscent "Two Little Kids" reached the R&B Top 30. Nothing else was issued as a single. Most of it is decent and enjoyable but insignificant and not particularly memorable. Reissued in 2009 by Wounded Bird (with three bonus tracks), it would be easy to mistake the album for an anthology of singles. As of 2013, the best source for the '60s hits remained Legacy's The Best of Peaches & Herb: Love Is Strange (released in 1996 and reissued in 2011).
